The chic baby bag edit
Leather totes that slide under the pram, double as your handbag, and travel with you long past the baby stage
I’ve come across some really really good totes recently, so I thought I’d put together a little list. I’m always asked about chic baby bag recommendations (ok, and my favourite children's brands… maybe my next feature?)
A baby bag is a really important investment as a mama — not only because you use it all day long, but also to help you feel a little more put together when you are deep in sleep deprivation/chasing after a toddler or two/have become the snack queen.
A few thoughts on choosing one:
When you have a baby 0-12m, to be honest, the bag mostly sits under the pram (and therefore needs to slide easily under the pram).
I like long straps, so you can carry it over your shoulder, especially if your baby is in the carrier. Sammy will also often be carrying it around.
I’m not one to hang the bag on the pram handles.
When they are really little…it’s mostly full of nappies, wipes, a muslin, some toys and maybe a change of clothes. I find bottles don't really need to stand up perfectly — good ones honestly don't leak. But you can always get little inserts. I always have a little zip pouch for small items.
It doubles as my handbag, so I don’t carry around two bags.
You'll use them far past the baby stage — filled with snacks instead, or your laptop. I still use my baby bag as my go-to travel tote. It comes everywhere with me.
Leather vs suede? With a new baby…I would always choose leather as you can clean it easily. But if your little ones are older, you can definitely get away with suede.
Whilst I’m not a nylon baby bag kind of girl, a canvas tote is always so handy to have at the bottom of your pram. We’ll often use the baby bag for Velzy and a canvas tote for the boys’ things when we are out for the day.
Extra points if the bag can zip all the way up, but not essential. As long as there is a closure of some sort, or even an internal zip pocket.
Your bag doesn’t need to be black to be chic. But I do love black.
If it can (ideally) hold a laptop and the straps easily fit over your shoulder — it can be a baby bag.
My personal favourites:

I hope you found one you love. And if a friend or sister is on the hunt — send this her way.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mamas!
